Seniors interested in attending a four-year college or university directly from high school should have taken the Scholastic Aptitude Reasoning Test (SAT) and/or the American College Test (ACT) last spring or this Fall. Those seniors who have not taken either test must have all testing completed by December 2010 including the SAT Subject Tests for students applying to a University of California campus. In addition students applying to Cal Poly, San Diego State or Chico and perhaps other State Universities need to have the SAT Reasoning or ACT completed as early as possible. Cal Poly prefers the ACT. Please call admission offices at specific State Universities to verify dates. Walk on for an extra $30.00 is possible. The next test dates and test prep information can be viewed on the weekly guidance news accessed through our counseling web page. HHS College Night is scheduled for Wed. This is a time to check on graduation status, future plans, college and testing requirements, JC and vocational goals, etc. It is a valuable meeting for counselors as well as seniors. Cal State and UC applications may be completed online starting in October when the site opens. The actual application filing period for UC’s is November 1-30.
