Interested in tutoring? Have a free period at the end of the day?
The Public School Success Team (PSST) is looking for student volunteers to work with
* 5th graders at Fitch on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 2
:30-3:30
* 6th graders at HJHS on Tuesdays from 1:30-2:30
This is a GREAT way to help younger students be successful in school and to earn community service hours!
 
We would like to welcome all new and returning students. Welcome new 9th graders from HJH. Do you believe that we have 44 new enrollees to HHS? Be sure to say “hello” to new HHS students who came from public and private schools nearby and from far away. Locally we have students from The Healdsburg School, St. John’s, Sebastopol Charter, Sonoma Academy, Home Schooling, Windsor, Geyserville, Cloverdale, Santa Rosa Schools and San Francisco. We have California students who moved to Healdsburg from Sacramento, Ukiah, Redding, Elk Grove and Pleasantville. We have students outside the state from Hawaii, Indiana, and Arizona. We also want to welcome our students from Mexico, Belgium, Bangkok and Japan. We wish everyone a wonderful year at HHS!
 
STUDENTS: Help the Healdsburg Museum and earn community service and volunteer hours. The Healdsburg Museum needs your help assisting with its Centennial Celebration. Student volunteers are needed to help with set up duties on Saturday and Sunday, September 11th and 12th. Sixteen students are needed…short shifts… great community involvement. Congrats to the girls volleyball team for their victory yesterday at Middletown!
 
The back-to-school dance is next Friday!! Purchase your tickets at the Student Store in advance for $4 or $2 with your ASB sticker. Otherwise tickets are $5 at the door.
 
Get your spirit on! Come to the student store to purchase spirit beads 25 cents for one of each color. Also, spirit shirts are here! They will be on sale next Tuesday at the Student Store! $5 with ASB sticker $10 without.
 
There will be an Alateen information table on Sept 8th, during lunch, with follow-up weekly meetings for all those interested. Alateen is a fellowship where teens get together to talk and share with each other about how their lives have been affected by someone else's drinking and to learn coping techniques. The meetings will take place during school hours.
 
Ballet Folklorico club meeting Monday at lunch in Room 47. Everyone is welcome! Quieren aprender a bailar bailes tradicionales de Mexico? Vengan hoy a la hora de alumerzo al salon 47.
 
If you are issued a text that has unnoted damage, return it to the library immediately so that you will not be charged for the damage.
 
Attention all working students: Your current Work Permit expired on September 1, 2010. Please submit another Work Permit application as soon as possible so you remain legally employed.
 
Please pick-up Registration Day pictures ASAP at the Student Store at break and lunch.
 
The Healdsburg Boys and Girls club is hiring students for their after school programs, if you’re interested in working at the Boys and Girls club, go this week and inquire within.
 
The Russian River Clean Up is coming September 25th & 26th. Good for community service and extra credit from participating teacher. Sign up now in rooms 4, 6, 17, & 67. Be part of the Clean Team.
 

SENIORS
Seniors ~ Are you a student athlete, strong academically and involved in your school? If so, see Mrs. Nimmo about the Wendy’s Heisman Scholarship !!
 
Seniors ~ Are you interested in pre-med, pre-dental, engineering or you just want a college with strong liberal studies but you need some financial help?? Strong academic students might consider applying for the Danforth Scholarship for Washington University in St. Louis ~~see Mrs. Nimmo for more info!
 

SENIORS/JUNIORS
Come to the student store and get your off campus ASB sticker on your student body ID card.
 
Juniors, interested in Tufts University? Voices is a program sponsored by the Office of Undergraduate Admissions for prospective students of color; first generation college-bound students; lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgendered (LGBT) students; students in low income or rural areas; and other students interested in learning about diversity within the Tufts Community. High school seniors are invited to take advantage of this excellent opportunity to explore campus, attend classes, meet professors, and spend a night with current students. You may discover that Tufts is a perfect match for you! Talk to your school counselor, Mr. Flores or Ms. Frommer for more information.

 
Juniors and Seniors!! Several colleges are slated to speak – see the sign-ups on the outside of the Career Center door ~ latest ones are the University of Nevada Reno, Dominican University in San Rafael and William Jessup Christian College ~ check these out and others!! Several will be here in September so don’t miss this opportunity!
 

FRESHMEN
Next week is Welcome Freshman Week! Freshman come to get your free class spirit shirt Tuesday at lunch to wear to the rally Wednesday at Study Hall.
 
Run for a leadership position to represent your class! Sign up in the main office.
 

CLUBS
The Progressive Club meets in room 4 at lunch. All are welcomed to attend.
 
The Debate Club’s first meeting will be in room 4 at lunch on Weds. Defining paradigm under discussion.
 
Are you gnarly enough to bomb down mountains and bunny-hop baby heads and death cookies!? Come check out the brand new HHS Mountain Biking Club! All skill levels welcome, boys and girls alike! First meeting is Tuesday, Sept. 7th at lunchtime in Room 12. Popcorn and an awesome mountain bike movie included.
